Over the past two decades, the volume of textile exports from the EU has increased from 550,000 tons in 2000 to 1.7 million tons in 2019.
As a result, EU has approved to ban on destruction of textiles, shoes, and other unsold consumer goods. Medium-sized companies will be exempted from the ban for four years, and small companies will receive general exemptions. These rules include strict requirements such as products need to be more durable and reusable, while being repairable and recyclable and easier to maintain.
