There is a long way to go to eliminate plastic, currently there are few alternatives, among which the most powerful alternative raw material is seaweed.
Seaweed has been around for billions of years, and it is easy to be broken its structure by nature.
It is now used in seaweed-coated cardboard boxes for food retailers, seaweed films for packaging food or cosmetics, and sachets for beverages such as water, alcohol or juice. Simply place the sachet in your mouth, chew, and serve.
Said by Tristan Kaye, Notpla’s commercial director, “It does not require arable land. It does not require fresh water. It doesn’t need fertilizer. It doesn’t require much human intervention. It grows in the sea, you just let it grow. With so much seaweed, it’s really hard to use up the seaweed.”
