Brazilian cotton exports to China increased more than 10 times in the first half of the year.

According to a report from a Brazilian financial website, Brazilian cotton exports to China have surged by an astounding 1000% in the first half of 2024, soaring from US$96 million to a whopping US$1 billion. The National Cotton Exporters Association of Brazil has declared that the 2023/2024 harvest season will yield a total of 3.7 million tons of cotton, with 60% of this expected to be exported. Notably, Brazilian cotton exports have outstripped those of the United States for the first time, making Brazil the world’s leading cotton exporter. Currently, the primary export markets for Brazilian cotton encompass China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Turkey, Pakistan, and other nations.
