Data from Statista, a German statistical data platform, indicates that in 2024, Jack Wolfskin is the most recognized outdoor clothing brand in Germany, boasting a brand awareness of 90%. This is followed by American brands The North Face and Timberland, with Mammut and Salomon occupying the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
Outdoor apparel represents the largest segment of the German outdoor market, succeeded by equipment for water and air activities, as well as camping gear, hiking, and mountaineering equipment.
Similar to many consumer markets, there is a notable transition from traditional retail to online sales within the outdoor products sector. Nevertheless, physical retail remains the leading sales channel for outdoor products in Germany, holding a market share exceeding 46%, while online sales account for 22%.
