France remain the fourth largest cross-border e-commerce market in the world in 2024.

Although the growth rate was slower than in 2023, the French trade magazine Le MOCI reported on March 17 that global cross-border online sales continued to expand in 2024.

France ranks fourth in the global cross-border e-commerce market, holding a 4% market share. Between 2018 and 2024, global e-commerce revenue doubled, reaching $4.562 trillion. It is projected to grow by another 5.1% by the end of 2025, surpassing $5 trillion. The top three countries in this market are China (40%), Germany (11%), and the United Kingdom (7%).

Today’s market is dominated by major platforms such as Amazon, Shein, and Temu. Together, these three platforms account for 56% of total sales, rapidly expanding through a strategy of low prices and high volume. In terms of product categories, consumers are becoming increasingly price-sensitive, with apparel, footwear, electronics, and home furnishings being the most in-demand items.
