Eco-Friendly Uniforms for Expo 2025 Taiwan Pavilion

The 2025 Osaka Expo focuses on sustainable development. In line with this goal, the staff uniforms for the Taiwan Pavilion (TECH WORLD) are made from 100% recyclable materials.

Key Highlights:

  • Innovative Materials: The fabric is made from a blend of corn fiber and oyster shells.
  • Circular Economy: To make recycling easier, the designer (Liao Chia-lin) used a “single-material” approach. Unlike traditional blended fabrics (like cotton-poly mixes) which are difficult to separate and recycle, these uniforms can be fully reborn into new textiles.
  • High Performance: Even though they are eco-friendly, the clothes use advanced “cross-section yarn” technology. This makes them:
    • Moisture-wicking and quick-drying.
    • Wrinkle-resistant.
    • Durable for long-term wear.
  • Zero Waste: Leftover fabric scraps are no longer thrown away. Instead, they are collected and sent to partners to be turned into recycled pens, which are then given to clients as meaningful gifts.

Why it matters:

Designer Liao Chia-lin emphasizes that recyclable clothing is a global trend. By using single-material fabrics, the fashion industry can reduce the amount of old clothes being burned and move toward a truly green future.
